This belief has guided us for many years, and we saw achieving B Corp Certification as the ideal framework to unite the many ESG initiatives we already had in place.
What is B Corp?
B Corp is a global standard for ethical business run by B Labs, a non-profit organisation launched in 2006 to transform how businesses operate. They have a clear vision of a global economy that uses business as a force for good.
Achieving B Corp Certification signifies that a company meets high standards of transparency, accountability, and sustainability, redefining success in business beyond just financial performance.
How does a company become B Corp Certified?
The certification process is not easy, and for good reason – it took us two years to earn this recognition!
We were assessed through B Lab’s comprehensive B Impact Assessment, which evaluates performance across five key areas:
- Governance: How we demonstrate ethical leadership, transparency and accountability
- Environment: Our approach to sustainable practices and environmental care
- Workers: Our commitment to fair treatment, wages and working conditions
- Community: The ways we support local communities and suppliers
- Customers: Our standards for responsible customer service
Becoming B Corp Certified is not a one off. Certified companies must re-certify every three years, proving they continue to meet high standards of performance and ethical standards and are committed to ongoing improvement. They are also required to publish an annual impact report to maintain transparency and accountability.
We believe that exceptional security services can coexist with a commitment to protecting people and the planet. We saw achieving B Corp Certification as the ideal framework to unite the many ESG initiatives they already had in place.
This belief drives our commitment to impactful actions, such as introducing an electric vehicle fleet within our London Operations, implementing transparent emissions reporting, fostering active ED&I strategies geared towards personal and professional development (like the award-nominated My TKC Journey initiative), and championing local businesses via our service partner network.
What B Corp means for TKC
TKC decided to pursue B Corp Certification quite simply because it was the right thing to do. It wasn’t just a business decision; it was a validation of the ethos that has driven us for many years, and the ESG initiatives we already run.
